A 1000KM cycle ride to share culture 🚴

I recently had the privilege of traveling to Boggabilla to join my brother, Ambrose Killian, a proud Arrente and West Bundjalung man, for the incredible "Tour de Deadly."
Ambrose and I have known each other since our school days, and I’m so proud he has brought this visionary idea to life. The Tour de Deadly is a 1000km charity bike ride from Wynnum on Quandamooka country to Boggabilla on Kamilaroi country, aiming to showcase and celebrate First Nations culture and the deep connection to country.

This ride is more than just a physical journey; it is a powerful initiative to bring awareness to community challenges while promoting active, healthy lifestyles and empowering our young people. Yarn'n was honored to be part of the Tour de Deadly, as it aligns perfectly with our values of educating, uniting, and inspiring communities.

During the event, we had the pleasure of working with Buddy Hippi, a proud Gomeroi/Gamilaraay man, who collaborated with Ambrose to organize a special day at "The Block." This community-run and led space is dedicated to providing a safe environment for youth to engage in cultural and educational practices.

The day was a tremendous success, with many young people from the Toomelah Mission joining us for a range of cultural activities. Boys participated in Yidaki (didgeridoo) making, while girls learned weaving techniques. Ambrose led a communal painting session that involved all the children, fostering creativity and connection. Additionally, we were joined by Ben from Traction Builds, who conducted bike workshops to teach the kids how to fix and maintain their pushbikes.

The day was filled with plenty of Yarns, creating a vibrant atmosphere of sharing and learning.

Participating in the Tour de Deadly was a truly inspiring experience, and Yarn'n is proud to support initiatives that resonate with our mission to make a positive impact on society.

If you feel like donating we back it.
