Yarn’n × Dirt × Melissa Ladkin

This spring, we’ve teamed up with our bunji's at Dirt to create something pretty special for their new and existing customers — a one-off Yarn’n roll celebrating Country, culture and our shared responsibility to care for this place we call home.

At the heart of the collaboration is Melissa Ladkin, a proud descendant of the Awabakal, Wonnarua and Bundjalung people, whose artwork, Wilangbo - return day, has been brought to life across this special-edition roll.

Melissa works with natural ochres to create art deeply connected to Country. It’s a practice that beautifully reflects something both Yarn’n and Dirt believe in — making more from what we already have, while caring for what comes next.

Her practice spans painting, sculpture, weaving and curation, each grounded in her connection to Country, community and conservation. Central to Melissa’s work is ochre — a sacred material that carries culture, story and knowledge passed down over countless generations.

Beyond her own practice, Melissa is also part of Country As Teacher, a Bundjalung not-for-profit helping educate young people and keep them connected to Country and culture.

As an artist, teacher and land conservationist, Melissa’s work is a reminder that caring for Country isn’t separate from everyday life — it’s part of how we live, what we choose and what we leave for those who come next.

We’re incredibly grateful to Melissa for trusting Yarn’n and Dirt to share her work, her story and a little piece of culture through something as everyday as a roll of dunny paper.
